- This location is an abandoned former Trailor Park, that has since become rewilded. It is located at the intersection of Rieder Road and Highway 50, just West of Lebanon, IL.
This time of year, the site is dominated by Tall Goldenrod (Solidago altissima) and Hairy Oilfield Aster, various thistles, etc., along with some Chicory (Cichorium intybus) around the perimeter. I went to collect some Goldenrod and noticed several (between 6 and 9) adult Monarchs flying about the area. I noticed one in particular, that seemed to be feeding on one of the Chicory flowers.
