- Unlike the two sites I have been monitoring all summer, this field was mowed mid-summer and there is new crop of healthier looking milkweed than in the garden and preserve I am monitoring. I did not inspect the milkweed as thoroughly or exhaustively as I do at the other sites because I was not prepared. I was in sandals and shorts and there is poison ivy everywhere amidst the milkweed. There were probably more eggs and other stage instars that I missed.
