Had 6 adult Monarchs emerge 5 males and 1 female and sighted a female Monarch flying in the lower gardens. Note: lost one chrysalis, a tachinid fly larva dropped from it. Note: When I find the caterpillars in the garden I relocate some to where there are 3 to 4 on a very bushy branch and I secure a mesh bag over the branch. Ants and the flys and nothing else can get to them. I have started doing this with all that I find because I started out one day with 28 cats out in the garden and by the next morning there were only 6 left.. since I started doing this , I’ve only lost one cat outside. Then when they are in their 5th instar I bring them in. I bring in potted milkweed for them...They are not out of their environment for to long..
